I was on the train with a billion other people on the way home and this lady with a pony tail was standing in front of me. The train was packed so everyone was just squeezed together with each other. Now for some reason, she kept snapping her head left and right, making her hair flip straight to my face. When she did it the fourth time, i held up the hand that was holding my wallet to protect my face—and used my fingers to grab hold of a few strands of her hair. Then she flipped her head again, and i felt the tug on her head. She turned to me and of course i acted like nothing happened.that’s when she stopped flipping her head. what a —–!

at how you have to uninstall (with a special uninstaller), install flash to upgrade versions. I’m getting the feeling that they’re trying to trick me into not unchecking that google toolbar option.

I just caught on to the desperate housewives buzz and stumbled upon these comments that provide an alternative light to the whole issue. It’s a good point though that we ourselves are guilty of ‘racial slurs’. However, racial slurs coming from an individual is different from racial slurs coming as part of scripts & story lines in a TV show. On that point, sure, Michael V and the producers of his show would be guilty. But I’m sure though, that if they knew that their show would be aired in several other continents, and several different races, they would watch their humor. Second, there’s a difference between a comedy show poking fun at races (in a similar way that Rex Navarette does with his own race) and making statements as part of lines in a script of a show that supposedly depicts reality. Okay, sure, we might have at one show or another, (I’d be curious to know if we actually do though) made any derogatory remarks about any other race in a ‘mezzo-serious’ context, as part of the script. But somehow, coming from company in a 1st world country that’s supposedly a global super power, it’s not the most appropriate thing to do. Being in a country that has a lot of law suits flying around for the most minute things, I really cannot imagine how the company would let that happen.

My dad is a doctor in the Philippines. He might not drive a Mercedes or whatever expensive cars those TV doctors own, but he does help a lot of people in his profession. So yes, I’m pissed. I’m just worried about the opinions that will get formed because of this incident. And an apology does not fix it. The fact they so carelessly allowed it to happen can mean that that sort of impression is something that is typical to come out of a sarcastic woman’s hysterical outbursts. And they being in the media business have a lot of influence, not to mention the fact that they’re one of the leaders in the industry. The company is in some serious crap.

I do know of companies though that do give value to cultural, racial, gender diversities and I have utmost respect for them. I guess one of the gauges to how mature a company is, is the size of the world that they let themselves live in.

p.s. Incidentally, I was reading some articles on the crime library last night and was quite surprised to find these stories of doctors and nurses in the U.S. being ‘angels of death’. Weird crap! Hmm… maybe these guys were from some med school in the Philippines..

Crap. It’s been a long time since I’d gotten into the mood and tonight was the night! Or so I thought. If I recall correctly, this is the one time I’ve been so determined to actually build something complete — only to hit a wall. Damn it. Nothing pisses me off more than my own incompetence.

So we chose to eat dinner at this newly opened restaurant at cathay cineleisure for dinner, made our order, took a seat. 20 minutes later, a waitress came up to say out orders will take a while, ‘Because we have to serve VIPs first.’ uhh.. Okay, sure maybe im still important. Just not very important. *sigh*

Chicken BBQ. It took a while before the food was served,. A total of 2 waitresses had approached us that the food we ordered would take ten more minutes (after the 20 minute wait) One of them actually asked Chris if he could change his order so it won’t take too long (after 40 minutes). Chris snapped. That must have caught their attention because a few minutes later, they came bringing the korean bbq chicken they had claimed ran out. That’s the power of taking photographs of the place where you’ve just been inconvenienced:p  My order followed a few minutes later too but my mood had vanished, and by then i had been engrossed in writing the first paragraph of this post and i just had to finish it.

Anyway. BBQ Chicken.

I’m currently working on building up my site, http://www.jocelynmae.com (i know, how creative huh?) but unfortunately, for lack of time, I haven’t been able to get around to really working on it. So what I did was just smack on the banner my sister made for me and slapped in an RSS reader to get feeds from both my technical and personal blog (which is which? i dunno) Anyway, I realized, because of that, my spaces statistics have shot up in the past few days. And no not because my site is being viewed more (i wish) but because the rss reader hits my feed and counts it as one hit for every entry pulled. I think at first, i didn’t put a max to the number of entries being fetched by the rss component so if i’m not wrong, the feed reeder fetched all of my entries and my spaces counted it as a separate hit every time. So i put a limit to the number of feed entries to fetch and made it 20, though that’s still a lot. So now, every time someone loads up http://www.jocelynmae.com it’s 20 hit spike for me :p *sigh* I know, who’s counting right? I feel bad though.. i used to think poor me, 140+ hits a day, and it’s probably all me from the posting and reposting. Now, I’m seeing 1600+ hits, and i guess I’m feeling 20x bad too 😦 hmm.. maybe i should put a separate hit counter on my spaces page :S BAH! who cares.

Because our city is way off the typhoon belt, it seldom rains here and we’re experiencing the full blown features of the tropical heat every single day.

it would be that annoying fart-like noise the drills somewhere are making. leche. good night.

so slow… and i heard there’s another storm coming into the country tomorrow. I pray it’s not as bad as the last time, or darnit, i’ll be stuck with nothing to do again..

oyster is being held hostage.. repairs will cost me 5.8k.. and if i choose not to have her fixed, i have to pay 1.5k for "diagnostic fees" *sigh* and my guitar needs to be refretted *SOB* gastos, gastos, gastos…

earlier this evening tin and i got REALLY pissed at this girl talking on her cellphone while waiting for the elevator. in case the whole world doesn’t know yet, our building has the WORST elevator algorithm in the world. You have to wait 10 years after pushing the button before the elevator opens. Anyway, this specie of skin and bones carrying a humongous bag was standing in front of the elevator door, yakking on her cellphone. Tin and i didn’t mind her, err, it, till the elevator finally opened up and she just kept yakking on her phone! there were 6 of us behind her waiting for her to step aside so we could pass but no, it was too much for her brain to process. tin and i were both so outraged that we couldn’t even scream at her. in my mind i was already pushing her into the elevator, even though in my mind, the elevator doors had also already closed. of course tin and i were civilized enough to control ourselves from throwing her into the wall.

a bank needs proof of billing to enable online transfers to an account that you own.

I am not a lazy person but as much as I can, I do things online. It saves a lot of time, money, and energy that you would spend if you were to go around and do manually the things you’d like to do. So this is the case. A few months ago, I got my payroll account atm from work. I already have an existing account with the same bank so when i went there to have my ATM pinned, I asked if I could have online transfers enabled with this payroll account. I wanted to be able to transfer my incoming money to an account that I couldn’t touch except by a whole ordeal of online transactions. See, that existing account was an atm for which I forgot the pin, and locked myself out of. The only access I have to it is their online facility to which i have also enrolled my new payroll account. In order for my money to be not as accessible, i plan to transfer my incoming money to that other account right away so that in order to get money out of it, i would have to go on the long process of going online to transfer the money to the other account which i have atm access to. (:p yes i just wanted to make it more difficult for myself to access my money).

ANYWAY, that time they told me that i needed to present to them a company id and SSS id in order to prove my identity and that i really am working for the company that opened the payroll account, in order to make such changes. Which is actually pretty stupid because I had my drivers license with me, my TIN id complete with pictures, and my face still being intact to prove my identity, plus the fact that the company was sending in money regularly to the account with my name on it, and me holding the ATM card to access the said money. Unless they know of companies who regularly give money to random people who don’t work for them, i find it hard to understand the need for such requirements. That time, I was still fixing up my employment requirements so i did not yet have a company id so i said i would go back when i got one. policies are policies.

So now 2 months later, finally obtaining my ID, and still struggling to put a leash on my expenses, i decided to make another visit to my beloved bank and have that online fund transfer feature enabled.

So i sit at the new accounts section and tell the nice lady of my intent. "I have a payroll account in your bank and would like to have online transfers through Fastnet enabled. Here is my company ID with my pretty face on it." She repeats what I just said and ask me if it was correct. "uhh.. yes?" Then she tells me that I need to give a copy of my proof of billing. WHAT?! No one mentioned this to me before.. But still, "oh. okay, is a mobile phone bill acceptable?" "Ma’am, we only consider PLDT and Meralco bills" Since I am merely renting space (I am from another province), I don’t have any PLDT and Meralco bills addressed to my name. Okay… I explained to her my situation and she advised me to get the proof of billing of my landlady along with our contract stating that I really am staying at their residence. So I thought, this is too much trouble to have this limitation on my payroll account lifted.

"okay miss, i’ll just open a new account then." I asked for the requirements, gave everything to her, filled out the necessary forms gave her the initial deposit, got my receipt. Then she tells me "okay ma’am, you can get your card after 4 to 5 business days. Oh and this account is also on a cash deposit basis so just bring a proof of billing when you come back."

I wanted to slap her. from the beginning, she should have told me that providing a proof of billing was the key factor in having a "cash dep only" restriction lifted. She shouldn’t have told me two months ago that the reason they couldn’t lift the restriction was that i didn’t have a company id and i couldn’t prove that i was really working for the company who opened the payroll account.

In conclusion, unless you pay your own utility bills specifically with meralco and PLDT, you will not be able to enjoy the benefits of having online fund transfers even if with an account that you own.

*BIG SIGH* Our bureaucracies should be reviewed and tested for common sense.

and i didn’t even notice it.. funny though, the same month last year i also created a new blog, migrating from my then previous blogspot blog.

I hate it when people think too much.. they end up looking really dumb.. and it’s sad cause they think they’re the victor, but to others, they look like idiots. People should learn to grow up and address the matters at hand instead of waste time, theirs and others, by throwing a circus just so they could simulate intelligence, when they’re actually achieving the opposite, if not nothing at all.

i don’t like to waste people’s time, nor do i like mine to be wasted. Yes, we’re entitled to slack off once in a while, but I guess some people have trouble recognizing when it’s too much.

Strike two idiot.

i will rant about 3 things in this post.

1. Taxi drivers who deny passengers if their destination is not en route home (ESP WHEN IT’S RAINING) The Dept. of Transportation should remove their permit to operate if they keep doing so. If they’re going to be picky about their passengers they might as well go to hell. They’re only adding up to traffic, wasting gas and adding up to the already congested number of stupid motorists. To think you pay a flag down fee of 30 pesos to take you somewhere where they’re already going anyway. PI nyo nalang.

2. Drivers who don’t respect pedestrian lanes. PI nyo rin ang bobobo nyo.

3. Traffic enforcers that ignore the stupid actions of #2 and other violators of traffic rules. PI! The government would be more efficient with putting up posts and hanging a ‘Traffic Enforcer’ sign on it. Hell even if they dressed these posts up in uniform sewn with the finest cloth they’d still be relatively saving more.
